Sunday With Spike

Sable's brother, Spike has a lot of energy.  He could fetch Frisbee till a person dislocated a shoulder.
Spike is lean because of all the attention he gets from my brother's brood.
But, like Sable, he is 10 years old now and does get tired.  He is not quite the "chow" hound like Sable though.  But he is just as lovable.  He just can't get close enough to you when he sits next to you.  He loves nudging you with that cold nose.

The Best To You!

I hope the few of you that find us here and have commented through the year will have a wonderful Christmas.  I'm not great at networking, so I know my readers are few and far between.  I suppose that I started this blog out of the love I have for my girls and now my Father's dog Joe.  As a result, I don't have to embarrass myself talking about my pets as though they were my children(aren't they?) in social settings.  So Sam, Monty, and Harlow, Tim and Lulu, Sean and Truvy, Howard, Stan, Coco, and the others who have stopped by through the year we wish you the best for the holidays and a Happy & Healthy New Year!

The Sweetest Story

One of the sweetest stories of 2013 is that of Mr. Cecil Williams and his seeing eye dog Orlando.
Mr. Williams fell on to the subway track in NYC and Orlando followed suit staying with his master as a train passed over them.
Thanks to many donations after this story the aging canine will stay with Mr. Williams while he gets a new service dog.  Good for you Orlando!

I Love This Time Of Year

The kids do too.  With the cooler temps, they get to ride with me and I don't have to worry about leaving them in the truck if I get distracted and stay in the store too long.  Joe has taken Lucy's old spot by the window.
Sable doesn't seem to mind too much that she has taken a back seat.  Just so she gets to ride.

Sunshine On My Baby Makes Me Happy

Today is the first sunshine we've seen in almost two weeks.  Although in the 40's, Sable took advantage and soaked up some rays.  When the pooches aren't underfoot, I become concerned thinking that they got out of the yard some way.  So when I look outside and see my baby I have an ahhhhhh moment.

Winter Blast

My Father, Sable, Joe, and I just returned from our trip to the Ozarks.  What perfect timing on my part.  I knew the weather predictions for the end of the week were bad but I just didn't believe.

After a 15 hour drive Saturday, that usually takes 11 hours at the most, we are back in southeast Texas.

By Friday evening, 12 inches of snow had fallen in the Ozarks.
I downloaded these photos from the area.  I hate to see cattle out in this weather but I understand that horses don't mind the snow.  I guess Mr. Ed started that rumor.

The stuff was beautiful (I left my camera in the garage with other things I forgot to load up) but I couldn't really enjoy it knowing I had to drive back in it with my father and the dogs.

Monday Memories

It appears that Lucy did not appreciate Sable's attempt to shade her from the sun in this 2008 photo.  Poor Sable knew how you red heads burn Lucy.

All In The Family

Sable's brother, Spike, appears to be as much a chow hound as Sable.  Yet, he manages to stay somewhat lean.  How is that?  Oh yeah, my Dad is not around feeding him scraps all the time.  Plus their house rule of "no scraps to the dogs".  What a downer.
