Cabin Fever

Just like our friends to the North in the winter, my kids stay inside during the hot, humid days of summer and tempers can flare.

Fighting over toys and petty jealousies are the norm at times.

Do You Pamper Your Babies?

Lucy was acting whipped even before my father and his dog got here

I thought the heat was taking a toll so I decided to have all three of them shaved down or in Lucy's case a very close trim.

Lucy looks so much leaner but more importantly she seems to have more energy. I was kind of shocked when I picked them up at the groomers. I had never had Lucy trimmed so close. She didn't look like my girl. But I'm getting used to her appearance now. She looks like she did as a puppy.

I paid $189 to have all three dogs bathed and cut. My father's dog, Joe, is 55 pounds and Lucy and Sable are both over 80 pounds. What do you think? Too much $$$ or is it about the same in your area?

Watch Your Back Lucy

Joe the terrible is back with me. My father is not doing well so he is here from Arkansas staying with me along with his precious companion Joe. Joe has some good traits but leaving my girls alone is not one of them. He is better with them than he was at first. Thankfully, like the rest of us, he's getting older and wiser.

The Texas heat even takes a toll on Joe and Lucy is willing to tolerate his presence on the sofa. It appears a dog's life is not so bad.

We hope you're having a great weekend.

The Dog Days Of Summer

Oh wait. It's not summer yet according to the calendar.

Lucy Looks To The Sky And Hopes For Rain

It is dry as a bone in southeast Texas and so hot. Breaking records for lack of rain and the heat everyday.

Twilight At Millie Bush Bark Park

By the time the sun gets up in the sky, the heat is on.

That's why getting to the park by 6:00 AM is best. We can get almost an hour of play time in before the sunrise.

There were a lot of friendly dogs there as usual.

But just walk on by please. Lucy is no park greeter. She's a guard dog!

Lucy and Sable just want to do one thing and that is swim for the ball.

It's sad to see them slow down. It's like when precious children turn into sulky teenagers. You know it's an end of a wonderful phase of life. Of course they are more energetic in the cool months.

They still seem puzzled over the parched Texas soil.
We hope you have a great week!
