To Groom Or Not to Groom?

How often and extreme do you have your loved ones groomed? I'm sorry to say that I can't remember where I came upon the above photo. I love it!  All that hair though reminded me that it's only been 10 weeks since I had Lucy and Sable groomed and already they are looking rather woolly.  I get Sable shaved down pretty close and I am wondering if this is a good thing?  She doesn't like the heat and her black coat warms up rather quickly now that the temps are in the upper 80's everyday.  She won't stay outside long in mid day unless she is swimming.  So does the extra hair actually help keep them cool and offer some protection from the heat?  What do you think?

Do You Pamper Your Babies?

Lucy was acting whipped even before my father and his dog got here

I thought the heat was taking a toll so I decided to have all three of them shaved down or in Lucy's case a very close trim.

Lucy looks so much leaner but more importantly she seems to have more energy. I was kind of shocked when I picked them up at the groomers. I had never had Lucy trimmed so close. She didn't look like my girl. But I'm getting used to her appearance now. She looks like she did as a puppy.

I paid $189 to have all three dogs bathed and cut. My father's dog, Joe, is 55 pounds and Lucy and Sable are both over 80 pounds. What do you think? Too much $$$ or is it about the same in your area?

I Worried All Day

I took my girls to the spa this morning before work. Okay it's not a spa but a pet store with a groomer. They got their summer cuts and look soooooo much cooler to me anyway. They aren't going to stay outside in Houston's heat and humidity but it should be more comfortable for them at any rate. Oh and less hair to vacumn. I was thinking about them all day. I'm worse than a parent taking a child to day care.
The store owner is a nice guy and is the owner of Sable's mother. He often has her in the store behind the counter but Sable doesn't seem to have a clue it's her mom. But I digress. I was so anxious to pick them up this afternoon. They were excited to see me and come home. Such a good feeling.

There was a whole lotta shakin' going on when we got home.
