It doesn't take long on these hot summer days for Joe to wear himself out at the park. For a dog that doesn't seem to know his name most of the time, he's ready to go home on these dog days of summer when I give the signal. All I have to do is go stand at the gate with leash in hand.
We were the first ones through the gate this morning at Pawm Springs Dog Park. Actually, I thought there would be several there. I can't imagine why more people don't want to beat the heat? The temperature was 81 degrees when we arrived and not a hint of a breeze. There's only two that like the heat less than myself and that is Sable and Joe. We were all ready to leave by 8:00 AM. Fortunately, several showed up before we left so Joe had the opportunity to chase and be chased. I hope that you're having a good weekend.
Seven years ago this summer I went home to take my Dad on vacation. He had a surprise for me. Someone had used a string and tied this puppy to his shop door.
He said that it was a little Dachshund or Doxin. I told him that the dogs feet were awfully big for such a small dog.
Well, the rest is history as we say. Joe weighed in at 70 pounds at the vet last week.
Joe had his annual visit to the vet this week. Sir Barks A Lot is such a good dog in many ways and being examined by the vet is no different. He doesn't put up a fuss of any kind. I think he likes the attention. What a strange fella. My father had a Dalmatian before Joe and she would be shaking in the car when my Dad drove up to the vet's office. Lucy and Sable have never been good patients at the vet so Joe, it seems, is the exception.
