A Good Bone

We enjoyed some beef ribs Sunday.  I call them dinosaur bones.  Most people don't care for beef ribs and only a few barbecue places sell them as most people prefer pork ribs.  I'm not a big fan of either but...
The kids love them so.  Joe is glad to get his and then run and hide from Sable.
Sable is glad to get hers as well.
The vet says that Joe and Sable's teeth are so clean.  It's the bones I tell you.

Sunday Treat

I know that it is hard to believe living in Texas but I never ate a barbecue rib till about 2000 when I took my Father on a vacation to Arizona to visit relatives. My uncle was smoking pork ribs while we were there.  Everyone at the time raved about them but I wasn't impressed.  They seemed messy and not much meat for the effort.  Flash forward to 2005 when said relatives were visiting from Arizona.  I thought I'd feed them barbecue ribs since Texas is known for barbecue.  When I went to the restaurant, I didn't remember or know if I wanted beef or pork ribs so I got both.  I had both my girls by this time. I learned that the beef rib, aka dinosaur bone, was a great treat for the dogs and I also learned that beef ribs are not that popular or available at most restaurants.
I'm still not a fan of ribs but I get the beef ribs for the babies.  Yes, I gnaw at the meat and sauce but they get the most joy and benefit out of them.
The vet always says that their teeth are so clean.  I think it's the bones they enjoy 3 or 4 times a year.

Beef Rib Bones!

My girls, along with Joe, celebrate his pending departure with some beef rib bones. At first Joe doesn't seem to know if he wants to bury or eat it but he soon realized it was best to eat it now with Sable around.

They Like A Good Bone

My girls love beef ribs. Now there are lots of barbeque establishments all over Houston but few offer beef ribs. I don't really care for any type of rib, barbeque or otherwise, so this is mostly for their enjoyment. Sable is the most excited. Not sure if it's the smell of the sauce or the fat and meat that I leave behind that she enjoys more.
Lucy is more lady like and will just lick her lips at first glance.

Soon they are down to the marrow and the excitement has lessoned.

All I hear is the steady gnawing of the bone which is kind of relaxing really. Oh and the vet always compliments them on how clean their teeth look. Another benefit of this splurge on their behalf.
