Under Joe Watch

My Father has apparently had a light stroke recently (more tests tomorrow) so I'm feeding him in the den now in front of the tv.  Joe knows something is up and keeps a watchful eye out for any dropped morsels of food.

Please! No Tongue In Publc Joe

I took Joe to the dog park late yesterday to get his run on.  Instead, he seemed to be in more of a social mood.  Maybe he was just glad to get away from his mean ole step sisters, Lucy and Sable?  At any rate, he got plenty of exercise and was snoring by 10:00 PM.
I took my father along as well.  I put him in the wheelchair so that we could move about the park more easily.  Then I let him push the chair back to the truck.  It was still quite warm at sunset and it didn't take long for the mosquitoes to come out.  Especially, since there was not a breeze to be felt.  My father will be 97 this week.  I can not imagine.  He was just a few years younger than I am now when I was born.  I can not imagine.
Have a good week.

Mercy Me

No matter what I say or do my father will not quit feeding table food to the pooches. It doesn't seem to matter what's on the menu:he starts dividing a portion for each one of them before he eats. I thought of locking them up in the cage while we eat but that is such a chore. I hate telling my 97 year old father-NO! First, there's Joe the beggar.

Then there's Lucy who hasn't mastered eating out of a spoon yet.

Finally, Sable squeezes in for her bite.

Making Tracks

I took my father and Joe back to the Ozarks on Monday. The area had a 20 inch snow in some places last Wednesday. It was a beautiful day for a drive with the roads all clear and only snow left in shaded areas.
Despite Joe being a handful around my girls he is a very good dog at my father's home and traveling. He sleeps the entire 11 hour drive except to look up at stops. My father is 97 years old and still living alone and driving(I know :(). I'm glad that he has a dog to keep him company. Joe is so gentle around him. Joe loves to run and has plenty of room in my father's yard as opposed to mine. So it's rather quiet around here now without Joe the terrible and my father.
