Monday Memories

When Lucy was a puppy and before she had Sable to play with I tried to have her plenty of toys.  Initially, she liked my version of the doggy tether ball but once she pulled it down she lost interest.

What's Better?

To have friends there to send you off?

Or, to be greeted by friends on your return?

Monday Memories

Baby Sable at two months of age scolds her big sister Lucy.  Maybe she was claiming ownership of Kong?

My Baby Is 11 Years Old Today

It doesn't seem possible that my Sable could be 11 years old today.  She had five siblings.  One of which is a yellow Lab named Spike that my brother adopted.  Her mother is still alive as well. Unfortunately, like so many, Sable never knew her father.
Sable has been a great dog especially since the woodwork and wall plaster eating puppy days have passed.  Sable likes to eat, swim, eat, and sleep.  She's never been a barker unlike her Uncle Joe.  I can still see her at Lucy's side when she came to live with us on New Years Eve 2003.
Happy Birthday Sable!

Joe's Just A Flirt

Joe likes to chase.  He often shows interest in Golden's.  Does he remember Lucy?
I'm sure he has some good lines and lays it on thick.
But when it comes to a commitment, he turns and runs.

A Tense Day At The Park

Sunday was a gorgeous day and I could not avoid taking Sable and Joe to the park.  I waited till later in the day thinking that the crowds might clear out but that was not the case.  I prefer going at day break.  Sable stays by my side.  She shows no interest in other dogs now like she used to do.  She will tolerate them around sniffing to some degree.  Joe, on the other hand, is at full throttle as soon as the gate is closed and the leash is off.  I can not keep up with him.  He's out chasing and getting chased. So I am concerned when I hear dogs starting to fight thinking that Joe could be in the middle of it all.  I was a bit unnerved when two or three dogs got in an all out fight as their owners stood by but relieved Joe was on the other side of the park.  Soon one owner was whipping the dogs with a leash while another was cussing and bystanders yelling "YOU DON"T HIT DOGS".  I heard one man tell another that he wanted his phone number after examining his dog.  He said why your dog started it and then another confrontation begins.  I was thinking "Sunday Bloody Sunday" might be the title of my blog post.  One never knows these days what will happen in a large crowd.  I don't go to concerts, sporting events, or mega churches anymore.  I might  have to return to my early morning time slot at the park as well.

An Alarm Clock Named Joe

It starts with a menacing stare and slight growl.
Then the growl becomes louder and a bit threatening.
Eventually, it becomes  "get your ass out of bed it's Sunday" barking.

Competition Is Good ...

But winning is better!

Monday Memories

Lucy and Sable enjoy a friendly game of tug of war.  Looks like they have the waist band to some of my  underwear: BAD GIRL Lucy!

Sunday In The Park With Joe

Joe joins in the fun with an evil eye on the others.
We are enjoying another hint of fall, for a couple of days at least, so we went to the park mid day.  It was perfect for Joe.  He loves a crowd and there are certainly a lot more there than when we usually go at day break.
