Monday Memories

I can't believe both of my girls are gone now. Thirteen years ago this week, I brought a puppy home that I named Sable for Lucy.  Lucy took good care of Sable and showed her the ropes and taught her the law of the land.  If someone had told me 14 years ago that I would have 3 big ass dogs in my home one day I would have laughed out loud.  Now my girls are just memories.

Is That Santa?

Well at first that's what Joe thought but it's just rain and the wind chimes.  Just two more days Joe.  As we wait we wish you a Merry Christmas!

Wordless Wednesday

Bye Bye Sweet Sable

I had to let my sweet Sable go yesterday.  It was so difficult yet knew the day was coming sooner than I wanted with her decline this year.  Her weight continued to fall off despite the thyroid meds and I noticed earlier this year that she could no longer stand endlessly on her hind legs and look down the road as I drove.  The last few weeks I have had to pick her up most of the time to help her walk and then she would always fall going potty.  Even with all this I was hesitant as I sat in the vets parking lot yesterday.  I was thinking I'd wait till after Christmas but that's what I said for  her birthday in November.  I knew it was time and I think she did too.  It was the first time she was ever shaking at the vet's office.  I loved this girl.  She was a lab and chow hound mix.  The man I got her from said she was the first one on and the last one off her mother.  I already miss you so much Sable.

Big Ole Girl

Sable weighed in almost 100 pounds at one time.  She weighed just 45 pounds yesterday when she took her last breath.

Get Some Rest This Weekend

My sweet Sable is hanging on for dear life. She continues to lose weight but still a chow hound? Darn thyroid. When she is not following me around the house or yard she is passed out getting some much needed rest.  We hope you have a restful weekend during this most hectic time of year.
