Bed Warmer

With some cooler temps I decided to get some flannel sheets.  I've never had flannel sheets before and frankly, could not imagine ever having them but... My father has been complaining about how cold it is so I got a set of sheets for him and for my bed as well.  It seems Joe loves them too.  Since I have had to take down one of my pet gates to make it easier for my father and his walker, Joe has taken to my bed.  When I look around and he's no where to be seen chances are good that he's in my bed.  I'm glad I gave him a bath last week.

Sable's Follow Up

Sable looks to me for comfort as we wait for the vet.
Sable's blood work numbers looked better with a 4 pound weight loss.  My $$$ numbers didn't look so good but when there are positive and visible results it's worth it.
It was unpleasant being in the room where I said good bye to Lucy.
On the way home, we decided to celebrate Sable's weight loss at Sonic.  Okay, it was my decision but...

Under Joe Watch

My Father has apparently had a light stroke recently (more tests tomorrow) so I'm feeding him in the den now in front of the tv.  Joe knows something is up and keeps a watchful eye out for any dropped morsels of food.

Poor Sable

I didn't realize just how bad Sable's skin condition had got till I saw her out in the bright sun light the other day.  I had been putting the ointment for "hot spots" on her but it apparently is of no help.  Her hair has only grown back in spots after being groomed in June.
So I got a chance to take her to the vet this week.  They reaffirm that it is her thyroid that is causing this hair loss.  In addition, she had ear infections in both ears.  I don't mind saying that I resent it when they will only give me two weeks of meds wanting to see her again.  When I drive up to the vet office I see Cadillac Escalades and Range Rovers in the parking lot and they see $$$ signs when they see me.  They wouldn't bat an eye to charging me, or anyone else, $2000 a month if I'd keep going.  I told her that I wanted 3 months supply of thyroid meds the next time I come back.   We'll see how it goes?  I might be looking for a new vet after 10 years.
