On Vacation

Last week when the temperatures finally dropped to a tolerable level I wheeled my Dad over to see the ducks.
I had an ulterior motive as well and that was to get rid of some dry dog food that my babies never liked.  It seems the ducks did not care for it much either but did devour the loaf of bread we also took.
I took Lucy, on leash, to see the ducks when she was just about 7 months old.  I don't think that I had an inkling as yet to how much she loved the water.  But soon she would have a baby sister and monthly trips to the dog park, aka swimming hole, would ensue.
We'll be in the Ozarks again for the week but I won't torture them and take them to the water on leash this time.
Have a good week!

My Girls Have Always Got Along

Okay, maybe there have been a few minor disagreements.

Basically, just some light dog play.
It's never got down and dirty.
Lucy has shown Sable nothing but love actually.

I could never ignore my baby's cry for help even if there were a scuffle.

And I never cracked a smile if Lucy ever got some payback.
My girls don't play like this anymore.  Lucy manages to muster up a growl or snarl at Joe on occasion but that's about it.
We hope that you have a playful weekend!

Back In The Day

Lucy, at the age of 10 months, playing with her relatively new 4 month old sister Sable
I went on a 3 hour tour the other night of photos that I had copied on CD's when I first started taking digital photos.  Sure there's a multitude of them and I only made it through the first 2 years.  But, I know that at the time I started taking digital that I must not have realized that I could take 100's of photos a day and it not cost me anything.  I was still thinking in terms of 24 or 36 exposure rolls of film, otherwise, there would be so many more.  I've said it before that I regret not taking more photos of Lucy when I first got her because they grow up so fast.  What that must feel like for their body to make such a transformation that first year of life.  No wonder they can be so destructive.

And How Was Your Weekend?

We were lazy dogs all weekend.  Our area here in southeast Texas finally got some much needed rain and my babies hate the rain.  We hope you had some fun in your neck of the woods.

Happiness

The In's & Out's Issue

When I see Lucy struggling to get in and out of the pond at the Sugar Land park it reminds me of myself getting in and out of my friends so-called "classic" Mazda Miata.  It's hell getting in and out.  I usually say I'll just meet you there.  But hey I'm off topic.
It's funny that Lucy knows where we are when we arrive.  If we were to go to Millie Bush Bark Park, with the much larger and much better access ponds, she would make a dash and be in the water in a splash. But at this park she if full of trepidation before she gets in the water and struggles to get out.
But I keep taking them here because it's so much closer than the other park and my girls do  love the water.

Your Daily Cup Of Joe

Side By Side

My girls are inseparable at the park.  They always have been.
They rarely venture away from one another.
While Joe is out running whatever he can Lucy and Sable are content with one another.
Sable is the more affectionate of the two, towards other dogs as well as me.
I like that they are so close.
Sable is the more active of the two now as they get older but they still manage to keep close company.
Getting the second dog, Sable, for Lucy was the best thing I have ever done.
