As 2017 Ends So Does This Blog

I've said it before: I never would have thought I would have had three big ass dogs in my home.
But Lucy, my first and a Golden Retriever stole my heart and naturally I felt she needed a companion. So about 6 or 7 months after Lucy's arrival I got Sable my lab mix. Lucy took her and showed her the ropes as if her very own.  I can't say they were affectionate towards one another but they were inseparable.  They loved to ride and loved the water more.  We had so many fun trips to the dog park.
Then in 2012 as my Father needed more physical help he came to live with me and along with him his mutt Joe.  My girls did not take likely to Joe.  Joe was a people and dog person. He was very social where as my girls showed little interest in other people or dogs.  But soon they seem to mesh together as a family. The amount of joy they provided was immeasurable.  Sadly, these canine relationships have been the longest that I have enjoyed in my life other than family.  So I feel as though I have milked this blog as long as I can sharing my memories of my sweet babies.
I hope as I get closer to retirement to adopt me a couple of dogs again.  Then maybe a new chapter for the blog.  But till then, I will enjoy my memories and the 1000's of photos of my babies. I appreciate the few who have shared this journey.  I am not, nor have I ever been good at networking, so comments and blog buddies have been few.  Nevertheless, I've enjoyed this effort.
I hope you have a safe and healthy new year full of joy!

Monday Memories

When there were three.  Those were the good ole days.  How did I manage three big pooches and have my elderly Father live with me for 2.5 of those years? Now,I wondered what I do with my time?  I seem to get nothing accomplished.

Monday Memories

All my babies loved to ride.  It must be a sense of adventure for them plus it takes the wear and tear off their legs.  I miss taking them to the park and for a Sunday ride.  I enjoyed taking them with me on errands on the few cool days we would have during the winter months.

Take A Road Trip This Weekend!

My babies all loved to ride.  My parents had a Lab and then a Dalmatian after I left home and both were terrified to get in a vehicle. Enjoy your weekend!

It's National Dog Day

My three babies back in 2012 at Millie Bush Bark Park.  Lucy was still with us and Sable was healthy and Joe and my late Father had just moved in with me.

It's No Walk In The Park

The girls, Joe, and I, finally made it to the dog park yesterday for an early morning swim.  There were a few others trying to beat the heat as well.
It's a shame the park isn't open at night because with the beautiful moon the last few nights we could have managed to find the water and all the balls with no problem.
Lucy didn't seem to mind sharing the water with the others this time around.
Playing in the water is all that Lucy and Sable want to do.  We don't know or really care what Joe is off doing.  Well that's not entirely true but...

Sleepy Heads

We've been hibernating all winter.  My babies haven't been to the park in months.  This has got to change before it gets so hot that daddy doesn't want to go.

Off The Road

I took my Father and my babies on a road trip to the hills of Arkansas last week.  It really kicks my butt.  I have a newly discovered respect for people traveling with children.
We left here in rain and it rained for over half the trip.  I had to keep telling myself that the area needs rain bad.  During the week, the weather was mild and then turned frigid within 12 hours with wind gusts over 45 mph.  There was a bit of flying snow but it had been too warm to amount to anything on the ground.  Joe was glad to be at his home and have the run of a huge yard.  My girls loved the cooler temps.  Lucy struggled with all the stairs.  Her arthritis is quite evident in these cases.  We had a gorgeous day for travel back to Texas yesterday.  It's good to be back and have the trip behind us.
It seems like the holidays are over for us now.
