Beating The Heat:Sunrise At The Park

I managed to get my girls to the park in the early morning over the weekend.
It was tolerable and the water had a chance to cool down from our low of 80 degrees.

I'm really surprised no one else was there. The park is on the edge of the largest residential area of Sugar Land. Go figure?

They had a rip roaring time as usual.

But it didn't take long once the sun was up for them and myself to start feeling the heat. Then they would rather drink the water.

Oh how Lucy loves not having other dogs around. She thinks it's her park.

My little water buffalo Sable is such a good girl and misses sniffing other canines.

It Was Soooooo Hot Today

Yeah today and till Halloween here in southeast Texas but I took Lucy and Sable to the park this afternoon anyway. One indicator of the heat is the number of other dogs at the park. None! Sunrise is the best time to take them but I just haven't had the opportunity lately.
They love the water but as they splashed and rubbed up against me I could feel the water wasn't very cool.
Their tongues were hanging low.
When they head for the shade under the skimpy trees I know it's time to go.

Do You Slipcover?

I ordered one of these slipcovers for my sofa and it's not exactly a "sure-fit". I got tired of the king size comforter I kept on the sofa plus it is too much of a hassle to wash on a regular basis. With all things good there are downfalls and with having indoor pets keeping the home the way it once was is is one of them. It's a lost cause, especially since I have the pet door. There's no one to blame but myself. When my girls were puppies I thought it was so cute watching them attempt to get up on the furniture with me. Then I aided them by moving the ottoman next to the chair or sofa and laying a cushion on the floor giving them steps and, as a result, a welcome mat. By all indications from the photos below I am not alone in giving a pet a bit of freedom.

Which One Or Both?

Yesterday, one of my girls or I guess both is possible peed on my rug. Now it's been several years since this has happened, especially when they can come and go as they please via pet door when I'm at home. I don't know what brought this about. I was working from home and it was thundering for hours but no rain. It was starting to wear on my nerves as well like battle fatigue in a war torn area. So I don't know if it was thunder that made them nervous or that I wouldn't let them down the hall to my office or what. At any rate, I hope it is not a trend. For their punishment, I took them for a ride .

A HOT Morning At Pawm Springs Dog Park

My lil hippos were ready for a swim.
It didn't take them long to feel the heat from the morning sun.

Sable loves the water and is a better swimmer than Lucy. And to think she wouldn't get in the water till she was almost 18 months old.

Lucy acted a bit better around the other dogs this time. Of course, they were so small how could she be her ole ugly self?

Finally, a shower under the raining palm tree. Now who thought of this? It had to sound better in the meeting than it actually is.

The Ole Switcheroo

Lucy is usually the "Alpha" dog and upfront first and at the window. But everytime we return home from the park Sable gets front and center.
While Lucy rides behind. What's up with that?
